Brugmansias are truly awesome! - Each is stunningly beautiful, though with a dark side. They are often associated with death, evil spirits and fearful visions. However,  most species bear intoxicatingly fragrant flowers that literally come alive as they open in the evening, each emitting a slightly varied tone.

Medicinally they are employed for a large spectrum of ailments, particularly arthritis, rheumatism & asthma. Curious is the fact that people in our culture suffering from arthritic conditions are warned to avoid Solanaceae foods (tomatoes, potatoes, peppers) yet arthritis is traditionally treated with Brugmansias & Daturas. Seemingly an unacknowledged homeopathic correlation (like cures like).

Brugmansia sanguinea
A very magical, more temperate high elevation species. Bears striking red & yellow flowers that attract enthusiastic hummingbirds. Known as an admixture to San Pedro cactus, creating a potion called Cimora. One of the only species that really is not fragrant. Easy to grow from fresh or dry seed. (Seeds)
