Spotting and ovulation

One of the leading causes of spotting in between periods may be ovulation. However, there might be other reasons too for this like hormonal changes, infections, menopause, or some severe health ailment. But all the other possibilities are absent them mid cycle spotting may be due to ovulation.
Many females experience light bleeding during ovulation. The ovarian follicle ruptures and egg is released from it. During ovulation luteinizing hormones lead the follicles present in the ovaries to weaken and thus a hole or stigma is easily made and the eggs come out of that. And thus due to this, traces of blood are found along with cervical fluids. This is different from menstrual bleeding and is mostly pink or brownish in color. Sometimes along with cervical mucus there is a small and thin lining seen. You must understand that this phase is the ovulation phase and such kind of spotting is a strong indicator that ovulation is taking place. However, when this indication is accompanied with a higher basal body temperature, changes in cervical mucus and change in the position of cervix then it strongly indicates higher fertility in this period. It is vital to note that ovulation spotting and implantation bleeding are completely different.
